Title: Super Duper Date!

Pairing: Volleyball (Pink Pearl)/Spinel

Summary: Spinel asks Volleyball out on a date.
A/N: Trying out a new pairing with tooth-rotting fluff. Written for prompt 244 - close.
"Hey, Volley?" Spinel pipes up when she spies the other Gem crossing her doorway.
"Oh, hello, Spinel. What is it?"
The first Gem smiles and pats the empty cushion beside her. "Do you wanna sit with me?"
"Certainly."
The Pearl seats herself besides Spinel and smiles warmly at her. Spinel blushes, turns her face to hide it, but finds a gentle, yet firm hand tap her chin and turn her face back. Volleyball's face is close to hers now, smile affixed to her pink face. It makes Spinel's heart ache as she thinks of Pink Diamond for a brief moment.
"Would you like to speak about something on your mind?" She asks, her hand gliding away from Spinel's face.
"Yeah. It's about us."
"Oh?"
Spinel screws up her face for a moment, feeling a rare moment of embarrassment. "I think I like us, er, you. I wanna do something special with you."
"Are we not doing something special now?" Volleyball asks, her hand rests on Spinel's.
"Yeah. But I mean I wanna do something more special with you." Spinel's free arm curls up as if to emphasize her words. "The humans have this thing called dating and it sounds like a fun thing to do with someone you find special."
"You find me special?" Volleyball asks, a fond tone to her voice.
"Of course! Super duper special, Volley!" Spinel leaps up, excitement taking control of her. "You're amazing and I wanna do something super duper fun with you! Like a human date! Steven says we can do lots of fun things on a date!"
"Do tell."
Spinel falters. "I guess I liked the idea so much I forgot to ask Steven what people do on dates."
Volleyball giggles and takes a hold of one of Spinel's curly arms, tugging her close to her so she sits down again besides her.
"Well maybe this is a date. We're together, having fun, and enjoying each other's company. Does that work for you?"
Blinking for a few seconds, Spinel beams and wraps Volleyball up in a big hug, pulling her closer so she can snuggle her face against her neck.
"Yeah, this sure feels like a date. And It's super duper cuz I'm with you!"
"I agree."
