Miami Vice fic: Love Moves Mountains
Mar. 30th, 2026 03:04 amFandom: Miami Vice
Author: Cat Moon
Rating: PG
Words: 919
Characters: Trudy, Rico, Sonny (implied Sonny/Rico)
Summary: In a perfect world, Sonny being found alive would have been a happy ending. Instead, Trudy is left wondering if anything will ever be okay again.
Notes: This is chapter three of my Trudy & Rico fic, "The Heart Makes Its Own Choices,"
Not sure how we got from Rico’s snide comment, "Saw you on the wanted poster, Sonny", in 'Heart of Night', to a clean-shaven Rico lying on the stand for Sonny, in the next episode, 'Bad Timing'… but neither is Trudy.

Last bit of freedom
Mar. 29th, 2026 08:55 pmI went for lunch with a friend from church today. Sort of an out of the blue thing, but it was nice to be able to socialize with someone who isn't in my normal circles.
We're clicking along with our "Star Trek: Discovery" watch. It's pleasant. I'm a little ticked that they have declared that "Starfleet Academy" will be done after next season. There were a bunch of traditionalists that didn't like it and the usual anti-woke crowd (some of who may be in charge at Paramount now) so it was doomed. Oh well, the fanfic will live on and I'll write odes to Caleb Mir and the things that happen to him in years three and four.
That's all I've got for now. See you all tomorrow!

Mar. 28th, 2026 12:44 amTalked to the owner for a bit after, mostly about our economic anxiety. He pointed out the absolute lack of traffic out front, which is indeed a main thoroughfare. I was able to pull right out and make a left, which I have never been able to do before... (I had also walked down to a diner to get breakfast, which was delicious, but I don't think I had to wait for a single car at any of the crosswalks.)
Hobby Market is next weekend so it's time to dig out the boxes again and hopefully find some fresh stuff for my table. I did start going through my shelves and gunpla stacks and hilariously, the first gunpla stack offered up two half-built kits (one of which I wasn't the one who started it) and a finished kit (again, not one I built so someone must've given it to me?)... I've finished the one and got it together minus a backpack I've utterly misplaced. The built one will get disassembled, cleaned, and probably become a paint experiment. Undecided on the last. I suppose I can at least finish it; it shouldn't be a difficult kit. (ETA: the bits that were already built were in pretty bad shape, so they're also getting bathed and cleaned and I'll see what I can do)

Mar. 29th, 2026 08:41 amI've now done two more test recordings. The second, done after I finally managed to completely disable the audio on the webcam, sounded just fine, aside from my keyboard being very loud in it(maybe get foam to put under the microphone?). But then again, so did the test recording I did before my first disastrous streaming attempt. I'm going to try again this coming Saturday, so I'll have to see how it goes then.

POEM: ''AMERICA IS A GUN'' by Brian Bilston
Mar. 27th, 2026 08:20 pm“AMERICA IS A GUN”
by
Brian Bilston
England is a cup of tea.
France, a wheel of ripened brie.
Greece, a short, squat olive tree.
America is a gun.
Brazil is football on the sand.
Argentina, Maradona's hand.
Germany, an oompah band.
America is a gun.
Holland is a wooden shoe.
Hungary, a goulash stew.
Australia, a kangaroo.
America is a gun.
Japan is a thermal spring.
Scotland is a highland sling.
Oh, better to be anything
than America as a gun.
Paul Millicheap, who writes as Brian Bilston, is a British poet and author.
Born in Birmingham, he studied at the University of Wales, Swansea, before entering the publishing industry as a marketing manager; notably for John Wiley in Oxford.

Mar. 26th, 2026 09:43 pmWhich is why I haven't been around much this week! I'm having a fantastic time, and I've also been staying up way too late and generally forgetting to do things because I think I have time for just one more run. Greek mythology was arguably my first fandom as a kid - alongside Narnia and The Hobbit - so the whole thing is extremely up my alley, and it's a really, really pretty game.
(All these years later, I'm amused that my otherwise restriction-happy parents handed me unabridged translations of The Odyssey and The Iliad when I was eight and ten, respectively. Return of the Jedi was off-limits because Princess Leia wore a bikini, but The Iliad is probably totally fine!)
