Challenge 370 - remainder - Challenge 002 - break - Oasis - OZ - Claire Howell/Gloria Nathan
Title: Oasis
Fandom: OZ
Pairing: Claire Howell/Gloria Nathan
Prompt: 370 - remainder, 002- break
Word Count: 252
Summary: Claire and Gloria in the break room
Claire looked up from the magazine she was reading and watched Gloria pour herself a cup of coffee.
“On break?” she asked.
“As much of one as I can get these days,” Gloria said.
“I don't know. As soon as I walk through that door, I think of this as my own private oasis.”
“I can leave if that will help you.”
“Nah, you're welcome to be on the oasis with me,” Claire said, flipping a page in the magazine.
Gloria smiled. “Thanks.”
Another page flip. “Contrary to popular belief, I don't invite just anybody to join me. I just wanted you to know that.”
“I'm honored. What are you reading?”
“An article on getting your home ready for winter.”
“It's May.”
“I've read everything else in this magazine which is from...” Claire stole a glance at the cover. “...October and some of these tips are pretty good. It's a way to pass the time.”
“We could talk.”
“Talk?”
“You know. Get to know each other better.”
“We could do that in ways other than talking.”
“Not in the break room though.”
“Locker room?” Claire suggested.
By the time Sister Peter Marie entered the break room five minutes later, there was a half cup of hot coffee and an open magazine sitting atop an abandoned table. She shook her head, muttered something about people not cleaning up after themselves, and returned the items to their proper places.
