For prompt 367 - intrigue - For this Moment - Game of Thrones - Sansa Stark/Margaery Tyrell
Title: For This Moment
Fandom: Game of Thrones
Pairing: Sansa Stark/Margaery Tyrell
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 244
Prompt: 367 - intrigue
Summary: Sansa's tired of all the games
“Don't you ever get tired of it?” Sansa asked.
“Tired of what?” Margaery responded.
“All the intrigue around the court. When I first came here, I thought it was so exciting. The prince, the throne, being someone who was watched, who everyone talked about. I wanted to be the queen, to rule, to be in partnership with someone. But it's not like that at all. You have to watch your back constantly. You cannot believe a word anyone says to you, because even your trusted advisors may be working against you. You have to learn how to play the game. My father never did, not really. Look where it got him.”
“Do you want me to tell you something true?”
“I'm not sure I'd believe anything anyone said to me right now.”
Margaery stopped walking and grasped Sansa's arm, effectively stopping her as well. Sansa turned toward her.
“Do you want me to tell you something true?” Margaery asked again.
“Yes,” Sansa whispered.
Margaery leaned forward and captured Sansa's lips in a kiss. “That's the truest thing I know,” she said when they'd paused for breath.
Sansa searched Margaery's eyes. She didn't know if Margaery was using her as a pawn in a larger game or if these feelings that were rushing to the surface were real, but she was content to pretend that, for this moment, this was the truth.
Smiling, she reached for Margaery again.
