Challenge 345 - Outside - Desert Hearts - Downpour - Vivian Bell/Cay Rivers
Title: Downpour
Fandom: Desert Hearts
Pairing: Vivian Bell/Cay Rivers
Rating: G
Word Count: 231
Prompt: 345 - Outside
Summary: Vivian couldn't keep Cay out
As they continued their walk, the drizzle became closer to a downpour. Vivian's clothing wasn't much protection against the elements, so she scurried for the shelter of Cay's car. Cay trailed behind her. Vivian got into the passenger seat, breathing heavily, feeling as though she had escaped more than the rain. She wanted to curl in on herself until Cay arrived and...
The gentle knock against the passenger side window could be heard over the rain. Vivian lowered the window slightly, feeling a few drops of rain against her skin. This was a bad idea.
“Roll it all the way down,” Cay yelled.
Vivian's fingers clasped the window crank as she complied. She remained facing forward, not risking a look at Cay because she feared she'd succumb to temptation if she did.
The sounds of the world outside seemed to quiet to a hush. Vivian felt Cay's lips against her skin, a soft kiss, one that she could have easily pulled away from. Another kiss close to her lips but still off-target. Vivian felt Cay's hand on her shoulder and she turned slightly. Their lips met, again and again, until reason crept in and Vivian pulled away.
She should have kept the window up, should have left Cay outside the car.
It wouldn't have made a difference. Cay had found her way inside Vivian's heart almost from the moment they'd met.
