Challenge 341 - Princess - Game of Thrones - Sansa-Brienne

Title: Roles
Fandom: Game of Thrones
Pairing: Sansa Stark/Brienne of Tarth
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 258
Prompt: 341- Princess
Summary: Sansa's tired of people seeing her a certain way

Sansa let out a growl of frustration after her sixth meeting of the afternoon.

“I halfway expected him to pat you on the head on the way out the door,” Brienne said.

“That's Jacob from House Lonergan. His sons used to play with Robb and Bran. He's always been one to condescend to women. I should have been prepared for it. He's just one of many that thinks I'm too delicate and unfit for this role.”

“Bran doesn't. Jon doesn't. They know you better than anyone. They know you can lead.”

“I know I can lead. It doesn't mean I can't use a little acknowledgment from my people now and again. It doesn't help to have you by my side as though I was a spoiled princess that needs protecting from herself as well as others.”

“Shall I leave you then? Go back to King Bran?”

“No. Perhaps a little more distance within these halls would help with the impression that I can handle myself.”

“I am by your side to protect you because that's what I want, to be in your presence and keep you safe. There's no spoiled princess in you, not after what you've been through. There is only a queen, fit to rule the North. I will happily bend the knee for you if you ask.”

Sansa raised an eyebrow as she caught the double meaning in Brienne's words. “Happily?”

“Happily,” replied Brienne, smiling at her.

“Being treated as a queen could have its advantages.”
