Title: a roguish visitor
Fandom: Magical Girl Raising Project (ACES+QUEENS)
Pairing: Pukin/Uluru

Prompt: 269 - guest
Word Count: 1000
Summary: Uluru spies on Lady Puk and her guest! Albeit not so discreetly...

Crouched down to the floor, Uluru’s tail thumped in displeasure as she sat outside of Lady Puk’s personal office door.

In all honesty, Uluru felt a bit like a child again. It had been years since she ‘spied’ on Lady Puk like this, though truth be told, Uluru hated to think of her actions as an espionage of sorts. She was just concerned! Wasn’t that natural for a protégé? She didn’t want anyone shady or suspicious to talk to Lady Puk. Though Uluru would never truly question Lady Puk’s judgement of character, Lady Puk was too kind and generous for her own good. She always welcomed everyone with a smile and open arms… it was easy for an unfavorable personality to slip through the cracks when Lady Puk’s heart was so accessible to everyone.

Uluru couldn’t help it! There was something off about that person. Definitely. Uluru, the liar queen, could see it in her smile. Perhaps Sorami would call Uluru uptight or paranoid, but there was something about her smile that Uluru didn’t trust at all!

General Pukin was her name. She was a bigshot in the Land of Magic, the top of the Inspection Department above even the Magical Girl Hunter, Snow White. She’d been alive for nearly as long as Lady Puk had — an age that Uluru couldn’t even begin to comprehend. She was important enough that she could have casual conversations with Lady Puk, apparently, which is exactly what Uluru was listening in to.

She pressed her ear to the door. The voices were muffled, and she couldn’t exactly make out their words. There was Lady Puk’s high-pitched voice, and then, a deeper voice. Both were silky and charismatic, but undoubtedly different in the end.

Uluru’s heart burned with worry and anger. She wanted to burst into Lady Puk’s office and proclaim, ‘Lady Puk, wait! This person is strange!’ but she knew that she would be scolded, and that even Sorami would laugh at her. She didn’t want to burden Lady Puk. She only wanted to protect her.

Uluru grit her teeth together. Eventually, as she got lost in her thoughts, full of worry, the voices melded together, and then —

The door opened before she even realized. Not even the senses of a magical girl warned her of the footsteps that approached.

“Uluru?”

It was Lady Puk’s voice, and Lady Puk’s feet — Uluru realized — that she had fallen right in front of. Really, she’d fallen before she even expected, hitting her little nose on the floor with a hard bump. It ached all the way up to her forehead, and she whimpered softly when she looked up, fighting back tears. Her tail sunk between her thighs.

“Whatcha doin’ here?” Lady Puk asked. Uluru couldn’t bring herself to actually look at her master for a moment until the guilt got the best of her and she looked to her heterochromatic eyes, creased with concern. “I thought you were with Sora while Puk talked business with the General here.”

Uluru flustered at the reminder of the guest Lady Puk was host to. She could feel her cheeks become painfully red, even more so when she looked past Lady Puk to see General Pukin behind her. She stood so much taller than Lady Puk and Uluru combined, her eyebrows piqued with interest in the little intruder… that intruder being Uluru, of course.

“Awawa—” Uluru’s tail shot straight up. “U—Uluru was just making sure that Lady Puk was safe!”

“Safe? Why wouldn’t Puk be?” Puk Puck smiled brightly. The same smile that Uluru loved so much… it seemed she didn’t realize that Uluru was actually trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. “Puk was having a good talk! Right, General?”

“Indeed,” said Pukin. Uluru could see a smirk on Pukin’s face. Did that smirk mean to mock Uluru? It looked like this General was amused. Uluru frowned, growling a little in her throat, however slight the noise was. “I was about to take my leave, however much I enjoy these affairs.”

“Aw, I like them too!” Lady Puk gushed, clapping her hands together.

A… affairs? Did this scoundrel mean to say she was having an affair with Lady Puk?! No, no no, Uluru won’t allow it!

“Anyways, Ururu — you should get off the floor, it doesn’t look very comfy... but Puk can’t pull you up, since she has little arms.” Puk Puck extended her arms and wiggled her fingers to demonstrate. “C’mon, get off the floor, it’s dirty, silly.”

Uluru waggled her tongue in an attempt to talk back, but before she could pick her body up, the General walked towards her and leaned down to extend a gloved hand. She smiled at her, fauxly charming in nature.

“Come, then,” said Pukin. Eyes sharp, voice deep… amidst the anger, Uluru felt a strange swell inside of her. “If you cannot lift yourself, I will aid you. Uluru, was it?”

“Y, yes,” Uluru huffed. Hesitantly, since Lady Puk had eyes on them, Uluru reached out and took Pukin’s offered hand. Pukin lifted her up. Uluru wobbled a little, but otherwise maintained balance. And since Lady Puk was still watching her, she had to mind her manners. “T… thank you,” she said.

Pukin chuckled. She lifted Uluru’s hand up to her lips and pressed a cordial, tame kiss there.

“It was my pleasure.”

Uluru’s entire face went ablaze. She gawked, she tensed, her tail puffed. She couldn’t even bring her hand away from this… this… dastard!

“I must be on my way, but I do hope we have the chance to speak more the next time I have business with your mistress.”

With the polite bow of her head and the bob of her feather, Pukin released Uluru’s hand, pardoned herself from Puk Puck, and was on her way.

“Uluru becoming friends with Puk’s friends really warms her heart,” Puk Puck said happily, and all Uluru could do was whimper with her chest woven tight inside of her.
