[Tarot] Before the Sentence (Original)
Title: Before the Sentence
Fandom: Original
Pairing: Ginny/Penny
Rating: G
Prompt: Emperor
Word Count: 200
Summary: Unrequited love, crime.
"Ginny, his is serious." Ginny focused on Penny's hands, soft and dry, resting delicately on her wrists. She couldn't stand to look up into those beautiful eyes. Hera's eyes, soft and deep and capable of such anger. God, Penny.
"I know," Ginny said between tight lips.
"They'll take you to prison. That man—he's telling everyone you helped him. If it goes to trial..."
Ginny took a ragged breath and looked up anyway. "If everything is lost anyway," she started, shocked at the evenness of her own voice. "Penny, I'm in--"
Penny folded her in a tight hug, nearly squeezing the breath out of her. "Shut up, Gin. We'll figure this out. It won't end up with you in prison. I promise you that."
The fierceness of that reply crushed Ginny's throat. Love choked her—and yet a part of her knew she'd been had, once again. Just like her partner had spilled out everything to save his own neck. Just like he'd probably never intended to let the money they stole go to the cause like he'd said. Penny knew. Penny didn't want to hear. Penny had her just where she wanted her.
Ginny'd never learn, would she?

All my original ficlets are terribly self-indulgent, I apologize.
