Janelle Monae Lyrics - 2 drabbles

Title: Roses
Fandom: Steven Universe
Pairing: Pearl/Rose Quartz
Prompt: 11. We'll make a million memories - all incredible
Word Count: 233
Warnings: None
Summary: Pearl and Rose and a flower crown.
A/N: I fell behind on SU and got back into watching it recently. Written before seeing the film/SUF.

The sky is an endless blue above her head as Pearl sits by quietly, watching Rose Quartz carefully handle a rose. She was always careful to not prick her fingers on the thorns, Pearl notes.

"Oh, this is going to look perfect on you!" Rose Quartz exclaims suddenly.

She holds up a carefully woven crown of flowers - pink and red roses intermingled with baby-breath - and smiles brightly at her. Pearl feels a flutter in her chest like a butterfly passing against her cheek. She loves the feeling. She loves...

No, she can't think that.

Rose Quartz gently fits the flower crown atop of Pearl's head. It sits perfectly there, her gem nicely displayed beneath it, as if part of the crown itself. Pearl blushes under the loving and admiring gaze currently resting on her.

"Perfect." Rose Quartz says and turns back to the field of roses before her. "Pearl, this field will flourish with flowers for a long time."

"So we will be able to come here often?" Pearl asks, hesitant. "Just us?"

"Of course, Pearl."

Her voice is filled such positivity that Pearl fully believes her. She reaches up to her flower crown to feel the soft petals upon it. Instead, she pricks her finger on a thorn and stares thoughtfully at the small dot of blood on her finger.

Does love hurt?, she wonders.

No, of course not. Things with Rose Quartz can never hurt, Pearl decides with a fond smile.

Title: Hesitant
Fandom: Steven Universe
Pairing: Ruby/Sapphire
Prompt: 8. Am I a sinner with my skirt on the ground?
Word Count: 163
Warnings: None
Summary: Ruby and Sapphire's first time.
A/N: None

Sapphire isn't sure what gives her pause as she looks over at Ruby. Ruby is blushing, self-conscious but determined and eager. She feels eager as well, but somewhat hesitant.

Homeworld had stressed their roles so strongly that it was hard to forget what had been ingrained into them. On Homeworld, her and Ruby's union would never have occurred and that was where her hesitance seem to stem from.

"Hey." Ruby says, taking her de-gloved hand into hers. She holds it softly, but firm enough to let her know that she's there to protect her.

"If you're scared or nervous, well, I am too. But I understand if you don't want to do this. I'm okay with that."

Sapphire smiles, her chest feels tight with love for the other Gem. She stands and removes her dress, allowing it to pool at her feet. The look on Ruby's face is enough to reassure her. This is fine. This is good.

Sapphire puts Homeworld out of her mind, but only just.
