Summary: Seeing each other in a more casual setting can be disorienting.

Alex checked her watch once more, and looked towards the end of the street, still nothing. She checked the time on her phone, and with some annoyance found out it that six minutes had passed since her call. Ten minutes, the driver had said. She hoped he would have hurried, the heels were getting even more annoying after a whole day spent almost completely standing up. And shouldn't there be more taxis around at this time of the evening, she asked herself as she unlocked the phone to pass the (hopefully little) remaining time.

Then she heard a voice coming from behind herself. "Alex! Hey!"

Linda? That was her voice, no mistake. What was she doing here? She turned around and looked around a few times, but couldn't seem to find her. It was only when a short woman stepped closer that Alex finally recognized her.

"Hey, it's me. I almost didn't recognize you in that fancy dress." Linda said, smiling widely, as she kept running in place.

And I almost didn't recognize you either, Alex was about to say. With that tracksuit she was wearing, Linda had something too casual to her that at first hadn't clicked - maybe it was the fact that she had a more genuinely butch look with that, than with all the leather and attitude. After a moment to fully process everything, Alex replied: "This, fancy? It's just a plain pant suit, for work."

Linda smiled. "It looks elegant, so it counts as fancy to me."

Alex chuckled, and gave a shrug. "What are you doing here?"

"Just going back home after some jogging in the park." She replied. "And you?"

"I'm going back home too. I'm waiting for a car, I lost the last bus."

Linda looked at her from head to toes, then said: "You say you dress like that for work, right? What's your job?"

"I'm a secretary at a law firm." Alex said.

"Sounds cool." Linda answered.

"No, it's boring. But hey, it pays rent and bills."

"Obviously." She replied. "If you want I can go back home and get the car, so I can give you a ride home."

"Thanks, but no. I already called a taxi, it should be here in five minutes."

"Oh, alright then." Linda said. She stopped running in place, and walked a bit closer. "You know, that elegant look really suits you." She added, her voice so serious it was surprising for Alex. She almost expected Linda would have said that either in a joking tone, or in a low and sultry manner - possibly adding a quip about how she would have wanted to see her with that during their next date.

"Thank you." Alex replied. "You look good too, like that."

"Heh, you could call this my working outfit, too." She said, smiling.

Alex let out a laugh. "Oh, of course."

As they went on chatting, Alex's phone started ringing. She turned around, and saw a yellow car slowly passing by, just a few steps away, while the driver looked around.

"Oh, there it is!" She said, waving her arm to call the attention of the driver. "I've got to go now."

"Alright, take care then." Linda said, starting to run in place again.

Alex took a couple steps towards the car and turned back. "By the way, Linda..." She called her loudly, thinking she had already started running away, while in reality she was still in the same spot.

"Yes?" She asked back.

"Mind if I call you later? I've had a horrible day, and I need someone to vent out with."

Linda smiled. "Go ahead. You didn't even need to ask, you know."

"I'd rather ask for confirmation first, just to be safe." Alex said. "Okay then, later."

"Later." Linda replied.

Alex finally got on the car. She told the driver the address and looked out of the window, to see Linda jogging away from her spot. There was still something weird about how she looked in that tracksuit, she
As she relaxed in the seat, she realized how she felt much more relieved, and all just because of that chat with Linda - well, being finally able to sit down helped in that regard, too. Compared to when she felt nervous just thinking about answering to her messages, it was huge. Maybe it was just the weird feeling she gave her, dressed so differently, or maybe it was just the different attitude.

Still, she had even managed to tell her she would have called, too. That in particular might have been rushing things a bit, Alex thought, but for the first time during that whole damn day she had felt satisfied with herself, and that was all she needed now.
