[Janelle Monae lyrics] Prompt 8 - Am I a sinner with my skirt on the ground?
Title: Thinking it through
Fandom: Original story
Characters/Pairings: Alexandra/Linda
Rating: Teen
Words: 611
Prompt: Am I a sinner with my skirt on the ground?
Notes: This is the 4th story in the series.
Summary: Is this going too fast?
After they had finished breakfast, Alex stood up and started to tidy up the table.
"Do you need a hand?" Linda asked, standing up as well.
"Just put the fruit and the milk back in the fridge." Alex replied. "And don't fret about the rest, you're the guest."
"Alright then." Linda said with a small laugh. She put away fruit and milk like she had been asked, then left the room. Alex finished cleaning up with calm, then sat on the chair. About a minute later Linda had returned into the kitchen, fully dressed.
"Well, thank you for the breakfast." Linda said. "And for the night, obviously."
"You're welcome." Alex replied, standing up.
"Okay then. Hope I'll get to meet you again at the club soon."
"We could exchange phone number, so the next time we can plan it out."
"...okay." Linda replied. She seemed confused for a moment, but quickly wiped that expression off her face and gave her a smile and picked her phone off her pocket. "Next weekend I'll be busy helping a friend move, though."
"Alright, whenever you feel like it." Alex said.
In the end, their following date took place eight days later. And for their second night out it was like Linda had set out with the intention of not giving Alex an occasion to call her "cute": her buzz cut was closely shaved, she was wearing a necklace made of safety pins, and her jeans looked like it had just been in a battle.
All of that, however, was completely pointless, Alex thought, since like that she only looked much more adorable. She had to fight the temptation of saying so, and that of jokingly asking how her punk band was doing about half a dozen times, but managed to hold back.
The date itself had gone pretty decently, even if it was a carbon copy of their first one - a couple drinks, a lot of talking while sobering up, and then right back to Alex's apartment. The most noticeable difference was that this time they managed to have more pillow talk, and once again Linda was the first to fall asleep.
It was then, as she looked at Linda sleeping, all of a sudden Alex started to wonder what was happening to her. She couldn't quite put her finger on why she felt like that, or even why she was thinking that, but she couldn't shake off that awkward feeling.
On one side, it was understandable: it had been the first time she had decided to have a one night stand right after being dumped, and the first time her one night stand had become a two times affair so soon. There was the whole novelty of it to take into account.
And the fact she had invited her at her place right away, instead of some motel; only now she realized it had been a bit of a gamble, even taking into account the fact that security could have been there in less than two minutes. But going to a motel would have been pretty squalid, and she wanted to leave a good impression on Linda.
The fact was, she hadn't been thinking straight since the beginning, and that bothered her. She had been careless just for sex with someone she had just met, even if she seemed such a genuinely nice person.
Just a few minutes later Alex's realized she was wide awake, and unable to push all those thoughts aside.
Moving slowly and carefully, to avoid waking Linda up, Alex stood up from the bed. She put on a t-shirt and went to the kitchen to prepare herself some chamomile.
