Opening her bag and taking out her wallet to pay, Alex also gave a quick look at the hour on her phone. They had been talking for about one hour and a half.
Well, it had been more than enough time for her to fully sober up, she thought as she put the phone away. She felt almost more clear headed and focused than she had been when she had arrived at the club.
But it was still kind of amusing, to find out she had just chatted for that long with someone she had met literally less than two hours ago - even if this someone had a voice to die for. It had mostly been small talk, during which the most personal thing she had learned about Linda was her training routine at the gym, and that she didn't like watching television before going to sleep.
But the way Linda had not only not tried to push her to drink more, but had ordered some snacks instead, told Alex more than she could have asked with words.
"So, can I offer you a passage home?" Linda then said, standing up. "To return the favor?"
"That would really be nice, thanks." Alex replied. As she stood next to Linda, she noticed how the other woman was slightly shorter - about three inches, though if she took off her heels it would have probably been less.
"Alright then, come along." She said, turning around and walking towards the door. Alex followed her, as she looked at her leather jacket move up and down as she took long, heavy steps, the few doubts she still had in her mind started to vanish. She really needed someone like her on a night like this, Alex repeated herself.
They reached the parking lot, and Alex was a bit surprised to find that the ride was a small city car - which, by the looks of it, had already changed hands at least once. She would have expected some sort of hog, or at least a small motorbike. Still, better so; it was a pretty long trip home, and having to keep perched on a bike for that long would have been less than ideal, especially now that she was so under dressed. Alex climbed on the car, and explained Linda where her home was.
During the trip, Alex realized she was feeling nervous. It was normal, she told herself, that was how she felt every time she picked up someone.
Still, tonight for some reason it felt weird. Her heart was beating faster, and her breath somewhat unsteady. If only she felt more clear headed, she could have been able to understand why - and even then, why was she feeling light headed? She had completely sobered up, she knew that for sure.
A few minutes later, the sight of her home snapped Alex out of her thoughts for good, much to her relief.
"We're there. It's that palace on the left."
"That apartment complex?"
"Yes." She replied. "You can stop at the parking lot at the end of the road."
"Alright."
Following Alex's indications, Linda parked the car and turned off the engine. "Here we are, it was a nice night. It was real fun to know you." She turned her head, and gave Alex a smile, while she searched in the pocket of her jacket. "Could you give me your phone-"
"Would you like to come up to my place?" Alex said, speaking more quickly than she would have wanted to.
After a moment of surprise, Linda gave her a thin grin. "Happily," she said, and wrapped an arm around Alex's shoulders, pulling her closer.
The kiss was a bit weird at first, given how sudden it had been, but she managed to accommodate to it quickly, and returned it. Feeling that she was getting into it, Linda got more eager, opening her mouth more. Instinctively, Alex pushed her away.
When they broke apart, they looked at each other for a few moments, in complete silence.
"I'm sorry-" Linda started.
"Hold it there, tiger, save some for later." Alex said, speaking over her. Those words had come out of her mouth instinctively, and it took her a moment to fully realize she had said them.
After a moment of surprise and confusion, Linda flashed her a smile. "Alright then. You tell me what to do."
"Alright, follow me." Alex replied, unbuckling her seat belt. Now she felt much safer, and was completely sure of this.
