It's chilly up in the crow's nest this late, but Luka has shooting stars to count before bed, so Ahim just scoots a little closer to her instead of complaining. Luka's warm enough to make up for any number of nighttime breezes.

"That's three," Luka says, when Ahim still hasn't seen any. She leans back against the mast behind them.

"You're so good at this," Ahim says. She rests her head on Luka's shoulder. "Do you think we'll really find it? The greatest treasure in the universe?"

"Definitely," Luka says firmly. Ahim has always loved her confidence. "We're the best pirates in the galaxy! And Marvelous isn't the kind of man who'd give up on his dream, no matter what." A pause. "Why, don't you think so?"

"Oh, absolutely! I have no doubt that we'll find it." Ahim takes Luka's hand, lacing their fingers together. "I just keep thinking, at times like this... Even if we don't, even if all we ever do is chase after it... It sounds silly."

"Even then, we've still found something wonderful?" Luka suggests.

Ahim looks up. Luka is looking at her, not the stars. "Exactly," she says.

The kiss that comes next is perfect.
