Prompt: #272: Sign & #363: Regret
Language: English
Word Count: 616
Content Notes: Nothing; guess this could be seen as a spoiler but this game has been out for years so...
Author Notes: Poor Misha. She and Shizune could've been a cute couple.
Summary: Sometimes, Misha wondered if she should've asked Shizune what hair color and style to go with, if perhaps the ringlets and bright pink dye Misha chose for herself ended up making her less appealing to the blue-haired female. (Or, five things Misha wishes she told Shizune, and the one thing she wish she never told her. 5+1 Things Challenge. Set in Shizune's Bad Route.)

I.
WHENEVER SHE PONDERS ABOUT desires that she never made known in the past to Shizune, one of the first things that come to Misha’s mind is on signing “I love you” to the blue-haired girl; it would’ve been funny to see Shizune blush in embarrassment (and in another life could’ve been a great chance to get accustomed to using it towards her).

II.
During the few times that Shizune would be so up to her neck in paperwork and event organizing during student council meetings that she would fall asleep, Misha wishes that she had been brave enough to give her a kiss and assure her that she would do the rest for her instead of awkwardly sitting in her seat to observe the sleeping girl’s facial appearance and slow breathing, before pretending to be on her phone once Shizune up.

III.
“When the fireworks start at the Tanabata festival, let’s sneak off into the woods for a bit of fun, Shicchan”—sometimes Misha thinks that if she told Shizune this their first and second year, not only would it have made their time during Tanabata more memorable and special but whatever sparks that could’ve (at least Misha tells herself could’ve) resorted from that would’ve been able to help Misha get over the pain that she kept feeling in her chest when, their third high-school year of the festival, not only did Hisao come with them but the male managed to get time alone with Shizune in a faraway field afterward.

IX.
During winter and summer breaks, Misha usually spent her time solely within the dorms of Yamaku Academy or hanging around in the Hakamichi household, and looking back she wishes that she had told Shizune that they should find an apartment after school to live with each other on their own (she even at one point saved up at least seven months of rent money if she had told Shizune and she said yes) away from their parents; Misha always felt like moving across the country or even heading out to the U.S.A. would’ve led to a better future for her, one where nonconformity and freedom of expression and romance of all kinds are normalized or even celebrated, instead of being shunned so hard that you’d be forced to either enter a summer camp where “people like you receive the help you need” or go to a school where “various disabilities of any kind are accepted”, not that Misha doesn’t love Yamaku Academy.*

V.
When Misha used to go around with her natural, long, and straight brown hair, sometimes she wondered if she should’ve asked Shizune to choose the hair color and style to go with, if perhaps the ringlets and bright pink dye Misha chose ended up making her appearance less appealing to the other female.

+1.
There is only one sentence that Misha regrets ever actually making known to Shizune, and it’s telling her that she loved her, because she doesn’t know if she’ll be able to keep going on as she watches Shizune now embracing in a kiss with Hisao in the student council classroom, the two oblivious to the fact that the door of the club is lightly open and that Misha is watching with tears coming out of her eyes both at the scene and on the fact that she chose to sleep with Hisao—never again never again never again never again never again—prior, the couple also without the knowledge that the scene (as well as Hisao cheating with Misha) is what ultimately pushes Misha to end up cutting her hair later that day, and also makes her contemplate for a few minutes on whether she should also slice her neck and wrists the same way.
