Challenge 342 - Elusive - Firefly - A Chance Meeting - Inara Serra/Saffron
Title: A Chance Meeting
Fandom: Firefly
Pairing: Inara Serra/Saffron
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 276
Prompt: 342 - Elusive
Summary: Saffron runs into an old friend
Saffron let out a small gasp when someone grabbed her arm. Looking down at the perfectly manicured and painted nails of the hand wrapped around her, she smiled.
“Miss Serra, it's lovely to see you again.”
“Is it?”
“Oh, don't be mad, Inara. You knew I wasn't going to stay forever.”
“You knew I'd find you eventually.”
“Of course. It's hard to be elusive when we travel in the same circles. Harder still when you count this,” she said, running her fingers through her poppy-colored hair.
“You could change it.”
“Why would I want to? It draws the eye. It most certainly drew yours.”
“What do you want, Saffron?”
“Who says I have to want anything? Maybe I just want to catch up.”
“Or maybe...”
“Fine. I hear you're close with the Ambassador. There's some legislation that I'm interested in. Well, not me exactly. A friend. All I need is an introduction and I'll let this,” she makes a sweeping gesture to indicate her body, “do the rest.”
“No. It's against Guild regulations. You should know that as well as anyone.”
“Still following those old codes. Could you imagine what would be if we went into business together?”
“A disaster.”
“You wound me, Inara. I suppose I'll have to do things the hard way.”
“The Ambassador is a good woman. Leave her be.”
“I'm sure she is good. And we'll be good together. Are you certain you don't want to facilitate our meeting? It could be fun.”
“I'm not helping you anymore. Good bye, Saffron.”
“Au revoir.”
