Because they thought she was one of their own, up-and-coming model from an old New York family, certainly not a showgirl’s illegitimate brat, raised in a bar and barely schooled. Nineteen years old, and she’d made it. She charged what she wanted for a set of photos, showed up at restaurants and expected to be paid for, rented out suites at hotels and found someone to pick up the bill. There was no limit to what she could get away with.
He was just another wallet to her, but when he asked her to kiss the redhead with the painted lips while he scraped his white powder together, Gloria dove in without hesitation. All the thinking and the wanting in her past, all the faking with all the men and it came to this, her first kiss with a woman only happened because a man told her to do it. The redhead replied with bleary-eyed compliance, and then there was the flash of a camera.
