[Tarot] Cutting It (Original)
Title: Cutting It
Fandom: Original
Characters/Pairings: Jackie Devine/Gloria Pearce
Rating: teen
Words: 215
Prompt: The Magician
Notes: Contains breakup, smoking.
"It ain't gonna cut it, sweetheart."
"It can cut it, if you want it to." Gloria frowned at Jackie, forming a furrow between those perfect pencilled eyebrows of hers. She was so white, her skin like parchment in the pale light. "Look, it's not much money, I know, but it's a chance to get away. Start again somewhere else. Hell, there are dives like this all over this beautiful country. And we'd be together."
Jackie shook her head, already turning inside herself, like a werewolf letting her fur slip out of her skin. Jackie was a dancing girl, her feet weren't built for running. And there'd always be other girls. For her and for Gloria both. Maybe even if they did stick together.
"I'm sorry, baby, but I ain't moving across the country for nobody." Severe the connection, make it quick. "If you're going, that means we're done."
The hurt flashed in Gloria's eyes for just a second before it turned to anger. She turned her face away and got up off the bed, snatching her dress up in one angry movement.
Yeah. Make it easier, darling. I'll do the same. Jackie lay back on the bed and pulled out one of Gloria's smokes, lighting up slowly. The smoke curled against the hotel room's wallpaper.
