Alex finished sipping her cup of chamomile. She was much more calm now, but still more aware and awake than she should have been at this hour in the night.

Talking about which, it was almost two in the morning, she should have gone back to bed now. Even if she wouldn't have been able to catch any sleep, she should have gone back with Linda.

She stood up and put her cup in the sink, then headed out of the kitchen. Before she could actually get out of the room, however, Alex heard the noise of footsteps. Had she just woken up Linda with the noise of the cup? She walked past the doorstep, and saw Linda on the other side of the corridor, looking at her from the bedroom.

"Everything okay?" Linda asked.

"Yes, yes..." Alex replied. "Just... I woke up and couldn't fall asleep again, so I drank some chamomile."
Linda walked closer, and turned on the light. "Feeling better now?"

She sighed. "A bit. I'm still awake, though."

"Nervous?"

Alex thought about it for a few seconds, then mumbled a yes. She opened her mouth, about to tell her something along the lines of "But it's not you!", but stopped herself in time. She hoped that Linda hadn't noticed the fact she had almost added something, but thankfully she seemed deep in thought.

"I see..." Linda then said. "Can I give you a massage? Or I'll go sleep on the couch, so you can have the bed all for your and relax?"

"A massage?" Alex repeated.

"Yes, to relax. You seem tense, just look at your shoulders."

Alex touched her left shoulder, and wondered if it really showed that much. Why not, she thought, it felt pretty tense anyway. "Alright, let's try that too."

"Great, take off the shirt and get on the bed." Linda said, turning on the nightstand lamp.

"Sorry for bothering you, first I wake you up and now this." Alex said while getting down on the bed.

"Don't mention it, it happens. And don't worry about waking me up, I have work in the afternoon today." She replied. "Where did you put the lotion?"

"There's some massage oil in the drawer of the bedside table."

"Really? Oh, great." Linda said as she found the bottle and got on the bed. "Perfect choice of brand too. I used it all the time when I get all stiff after a busy day at work. Shouldn't happen to me."

"Can I ask you one thing?" Alex asked, slightly turning her head to look at Linda.

"Sure."

"What do you do for work?"

"Trainer at a gym." Linda replied, pouring some oil on Alex's shoulders. "It shows, doesn't it?" She added, flexing her arm and letting out a cackle.

"Really? Well, makes sense." Alex said.

"Makes sense?" Linda asked, starting her massage.

"I wouldn't have guessed it."

"Then how did you think I managed to get these guns?"

"I thought you worked as a docker, or something like that." She replied. "And I also imagined your arms would be covered in tattoos."

Linda stopped for a moment. "Did you think I was a sailor, or something?"

Alex stood in silence, feeling her ears getting warmer and warmer. She was probably red like a beet now.

Linda started laughing. "I'll take that as a yes, then." She added when she had stopped, as she got back to massaging her. "Now relax, I can't do this if you're so tense."

"I'll try." Alex replied. She breathed in and out a few times to calm down, and much to her surprise it was working. She was feeling much better now, and little by little her head was slowly feeling lighter as well.

"That's good..." Alex mumbled.

"Yeah, I can feel that, you're less stiff now." Linda replied.

As her mind eased off, Alex remembered she had felt a bit like this earlier, when she had met with Linda, during their date and while they had come back home. There was something about her presence that made her feel this good, Alex thought as she dozed off.
