Prompt Table Challenge - Tulip
Title: The Dance
Fandom: Original
Pairing: Unnamed couple
Rating: PG
Prompt: The Language of Flowers - Tulip
Word Count: 179
Summary: The ritual is beautiful, the dance to end their day.
A/N: Warning, I tried something a little different.
The ritual is beautiful, the dance to end their day. She shed her work day and exchanged it for comfortable pants and a t-shirt, while her partner sits at a vanity asking about non-existent crow's feet. Sharing a single sink to brush their teeth without accidental banging of heads or spitting on each other from years of practice. They fluff pillows in synchronized movements, concentrating only on their conversation with each other, while they slide into bed in unison. She puts lotion on her hands and elbows. Her partner responds with a joke and pokes her with her icy feet. She tells her for the billionth time to put on socks, knowing it's pointless and will be followed with a saccharine comment about her keeping her warm. One bedside light goes out. A book to read is pulled out on the other side of the bed. She rests her head on her shoulder. Her partner wraps an arm around her, while holding the book in the other. A goodnight kiss is exchanged. Their dance is over for the night.
